DENHAM The Jeanmaker
Amsterdam-based brand Denham The Jeanmaker first set up shop in 2008 with a mission to craft denim that ‘worships tradition’ but ‘destroys convention’. While it sounds like PR hooey, the Brit-born founder Jason Denham managed to translate these ideas into tangible reality, and within five years had a local and international following, and 7 standalone stores, including 2 in artisan denim capital Tokyo – a true testament to both the integrity and the quality of the product. Based on the success of the first Tokyo store in Daikanyama, Denham opened a second output in upscale Omotesando Hills last year, only to this year refine and refocus its offering with a polished renovation in March.
In the revamped Roppongi shop, fitted in rustic white and wood and formerly housing a men’s collection only, shoppers will now find a complete men’s and women’s wear offering spanning the brand’s signature fit jeans (for ladies we love the sharp’ 5-pocket skinny fit and for gentlemen the ‘razor’ slim fit, the latter expertly faded for the ‘2 year blue’ hue). But it doesn’t end there – shirts, jackets, tees, and accessories round out the house collection, plus limited edition exclusives like this season’s Converse Jack Purcell x Denham canvas sneakers, embroidered with the brand’s iconic scissor logo. Last, but certainly not least, an after-care guarantee as well as the signature ‘Denham Service Co.’ means access to extras like a hand-wash service with natural enzymes and knee repair service with an original Singer Darning machine, so you can maximise the life on your favourite pair – full service, indeed!
