Who Let The Dogs Out?

April 24, 2014
Brewdog Roppongi
Brewdog, the independent Scottish craft brewery co-founded in 2007 by wild hounds James Watt and Martin Dickie, is well-known among aficionados as the makers of the world’s most potent beer – the (no-longer-for-sale) 2010 ‘End of History’, which boasted a staggering 55% alcohol content. Two years later Brewdog was named by the Sunday Times as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK, and today it operates 10+ bars across the country, plus outposts as far afield as Stockholm and Sao Paolo. And Tokyo’s hop-lovers will rejoice to learn that at long last Brewdog has arrived in Asia, via a bi-level brick n’ wood beerhouse in Roppongi.

Sink into one of Brewdog Tokyo’s chesterfield sofas and look up at the TV-screen menus listing the 20 brews on tap, half of which are own-brewed (including Roppongi exclusives like the coffee chocolate stout Cocoa Psycho, scotch ale Baby Dogma, and namesake Tokyo* oak-aged stout), plus another 10 carefully curated from quality breweries, including Norway's Nøgne and Heretic from California. Not sure what to try? Order a flight board and get 4 third-glasses of any of the Brewdog beers on offer, and pair with bar bites like artisanal meat and cheese platters, meaty scotch eggs and salmon kedgeree. Brew-lliant!
