Power Dresser

September 17, 2015
J. Crew
Surely selling stripes to the French is a bit like offloading ice to the Inuits, n’est-ce pas? Well, US prepster J. Crew certainly doesn’t think so, as indicated by the recent unveiling of its first ever Paris boutique, which manages to accomplish exactly that.

It turns out power dresser Jenna Lyons and her style squad are on to something. La Ville Lumière’s fashion-conscious have been flocking to the Marais outpost, keen to kit themselves in quality clothes with an international appeal.

In true J. Crew form, the curation is spot on, repping its own line of oh-so covetable cashmere, statement jewellery and cropped pixie pants, as well as partnership products from the likes of Birkenstock, Lulu Frost and New Balance.

In addition, there are of course the aforementioned Breton tops created by Saint James exclusively for the store – which feature Gallic-themed Swarovski appliqué – as well as artwork from the sadly-now-shuttered gallery Yvon Lambert and pieces from the exclusive, high-end J. Crew Collection.

But it’s not just the wares that pay homage to the boutique’s whereabouts; the interior design has also been carefully considered to reflect its effortlessly chic environs. Think lovely limestone walls, an original wood storefront and an atrium-esque glass roof. Shopportunity, knocks, especially as there’s a second location (for the monsieur in your life) to follow this autumn!
