Gallic Gastronomy Galore!

September 15, 2016
Fête de la Gastronomie

As if you needed any more excuses to indulge while in the capital, French cuisine will be in the spotlight in Paris for three days, with numerous events including cooking classes, tasting sessions in top restaurants, aperitifs, workshops, dinners, food markets and meetings celebrating the country’s marvellous culinary heritage.

Inaugurated in 2011, the nationwide Fête de la Gastronomie is intended to boost awareness and enjoyment of France’s fabulous, heritage-rich food culture. Its mission is to celebrate the knowledge and innovation of French gastronomy, uniting food professionals with the public.

From banquets to picnics, chefs’ demos to conferences, and recipe competitions to great value tasting menus in diverse eateries, there’s plenty to amuse the passionate foodie, super-keen blogger or casual visitor, with events helpfully listed by arrondissement (neighbourhood). There’s a packed programme, which is constantly being updated, so plan your top picks in advance.

Tasty options include an ultra-French foie gras dégustation (Maison Tête / 20 rue Cadet) and the chance to explore famous bakery Boulangerie Poilâne (8 rue du Cherche-Midi).

Even the capital’s cultural centres get involved, showcasing the culinary traditions of their nations. For exotic fare, you can discover Cuban food and cocktails, backdropped by Latin tunes (Cubana Café / 47 rue Vavin), or taste Peruvian ceviche and ‘tails (1K Hôtel / 13 blvd du Temple). There’s something for every taste, and to please any palate, so tuck in…

23-25 Sep, 2016.
