Tilda All Day
Ahh the weekend brunch ritual, there’s really nothing quite like it. But what started out as a chilled, luxuriantly leisurely mid-morning munch has now become a hectic scrum of hungry hipsters, sharpened elbows, frenzied staff, and wait lists longer than the High Line.
Fed up with the rumbling tums, snaking lines and abject panic? Well, Brooklyn resto vets Danny Nussbaum and Samantha Safer (ex Peck’s) have the answer to your foodie prayers with slick, light-filled all-day everyday brunch spot Tilda All Day – that’s right, folks – serving brunch fare seven days a week. Turn up any time and you’ll still be guaranteed your fave morning treats, or linger longer over pastries and soft scrambled eggs without worrying about the ticking clock.
This Clinton Hill neighbourhood gem was partly aimed at fellow chefs and food industry friends, who rarely get weekend mornings off, so you can bet your bottom dollar the food here is damn fine. Seasonal menus seduce with fruit and lardo toast, smoked mackerel potato salad, meat and cheese plates, and fruit bowls. Naturally, the coffee and cakes are big hits, or get quaffing with cocktails, mocktails, wine, draft beer and prosecco.
The serene, informal space, by The MP Shift’s Amy Morris and Anna Polonsky, will mellow you out too, all-white walls with simple graphic motifs, streamlined tan leather banquettes, and humble old-school wooden chairs. Minimal art, lights and plants keep the look cool. Brunch just got better…
