Fellas, with all the festive season to-ing and fro-ing, gifting and eating, it’s highly likely you’ve been neglecting that all-important special someone – you! Well it’s time to turn that around quicksticks, because Williamsburg’s West Coast pop-up featuring Rudy’s Barbershop, Poler and Verve Coffee is into its final two weeks, and this particular temporary showroom is a mens’ mecca fusing grooming, refueling and outdoors-ing into one modern day machismo mash-up.
Situated in the former bank building on Grand Street that once housed A.P.C., the space is headlined and curated by Rudy’s, the Seattle-born chain that began as a vintage rock n’ roll barbershop-cum-creative hub in 1993 and has since grown to include 18 uber-trendy locations across the US. While you’re getting snipped, you’ll surely need a java jolt, and thankfully Santa Cruz roaster Verve is on hand to oblige with Northwest Regional Barista Champion Devin Chapman manning the La Marzocco Strada EP. Finally, what’s a mens’ pop-up without the requisite dash of rugged outdoorsman gear? The answer: nothing! Indeed, Poler is front and centre with its neat cache of outerwear, napsacks, hip camping stuff and even ninja suits. While the store is open daily till the end of January, Rudy’s only cuts hair Friday through Sunday, so be sure to plan your much-deserved pamper session accordingly. Man-tastic!
