True, it is the season of falling leaves and shorter days in the Big Apple, but over at The Peninsula there is a decidedly Spring-like sense, with blooming flowers and an inundation of perfectly pinkish hues. That’s because it’s October – aka Breast Cancer Awareness month – and in celebration of this worthy cause the hotel facade is playing host to a fantastically florid installation by renowned Peruvian artist Grimanesa Amorós.
Titled PINK LOTUS, the LED light installation takes the form of a towering fuchsia flower above the building’s entrance and has been strategically placed to highlight an ornamental carving of Ceres, the Roman Goddess of agriculture and abundance, in a tribute to the strength of all women.
Those that are more about the aperitifs than the art are sure to love the signature sip that the Peninsula’s clever barkeeps have concocted in honour of the piece, plus the Gotham Lounge is also set to host a Pink Afternoon Tea, and the Spa has a series of extra spesh body scrubs, massages, manicures and facials. Yep, it’s all coming up roses. Or should that be lotuses?
Until 15 Nov, 2015.
