Quirky Williamsburg Jewellery

October 31, 2014
Nora Kogan

It’s no secret that Williamsburg has emerged as a thriving creative enclave in recent years, with local artisan shops like those at mini-mall The Stores at 240 Kent, plus stylish restaurants such as Dover calling this happening community their home. So it’s really no surprise then that when Russia-Australian jeweller Nora Kogan’s Park Slope lease was up, she beelined directly to the city’s default so-hip locale to set up a brand spanking New York flagship.

Amid patterned wall panels, polished concrete floors and a suspended mirror installation by Australian artist Constanze Zikos, Kogan’s globally-influenced designs wink prettily from the glass-encased shelving. All her goodies are here, from the Egyptian-inspired ‘Death on the Nile’ collection (ankh-shaped necklace pendants in black diamonds and serpentine rings in 14k yellow gold and labradorite) and Shibari rope rings in sterling silver, to her more playful pieces such as handpainted enamel Man Ray Lips cuffs and femme-shaped baubles with diamond-studded, ahem, accents. And for that extra special jewellery purchase, wannabe proposers should check out Kogan’s divine wedding collection, including a standout Endless Love platinum band with diamond pavé, and custom pieces for that individual touch. Sounds like an ‘I do’ to us!
