Jung Lee

Shopping in New York is without a doubt some of the best in the world, with some of the most tried-and-true stores in addition to new arrivals that we wonder how we’ve ever survived without. Falling squarely in the latter and topping almost every ‘best new shop’ list of 2013 is homeware and décor store Jung Lee, named for and curated by the famed event planner (and founder of Fete event design firm) herself. Sitting pretty in the NoMad district, Jung Lee is all about the mix of high and low-end goods, to bring all the personality and none of the straight-out-the-catalogue looks into a home.

JL has expertly organised the space like an open house, with everything displayed effortlessly and exquisitely – dinnerware is laid out on a table set and prepped for a party, while floor-to-ceiling shelves carry meticulously-sourced objets and candles, stemware and serving pieces. It’s a delightful collection wherein you might find US$ 6 white ceramic coffee mugs, a tribal platter handcrafted by Venetian artisan Mariano Fortuny, an extravagant set of 6 silversmith knives designed by Michelin-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire for Puiforcat, and a covetable collection of coffee table tomes from limited edition National Geographic volumes to Impossible Collection of Cars. For those who never had a chance to experience JL’s events first-hand, a gander around the store comes a close second.
