Swingin’ Summer Soirée

June 10, 2014
The Jazz Age Lawn Party

Don your glad rags and strap on your dancing shoes doll face, it’s time for New York’s annual Jazz Age Lawn Party. Now in its ninth year, the event celebrating all the music, frivolity, food and fashion of the roaring twenties is set to once again transform New York Harbor’s historic Governors Island into a bee’s-knees bash with flappers, fly boys and flivvers aplenty.

With swingin’ jazz tunes from Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra, the party plays host to a plethora of other cool cat musos, vintage clothing vendors, a 1920s motorcar cavalcade, Charleston dance contests and even a fam-friendly funfair for junior gents and flapperettes. St-Germain is supplying the giggle water and chef Jimmy Carbone (of Jimmy’s No. 43) will be whipping up a gourmet food menu of era-inspired entrées and picnic fodder to sate appetites post-toe tapping on the outdoor dance floor. So slip into that old fringe frock, snap on your suspenders, snag a spot on the grass and get set for what’s sure to be a swell day of sunshine, spiffy attire and top tunes. This one is the cat’s meow, kids.

14-15 Jun & 16-17 Aug, 2014.
