Corvo Bianco

Bigger doesn’t always mean better, even in the supersized USA, and particularly when it comes to restaurants, the size of a venue can often be directly correlated with challenges in terms of consistency and service. But while UWS fine-diner Corvo Bianco by lauded celeb chef Elizabeth Falkner is certainly one of the larger openings in recent months, and initially suffered a few setbacks in these areas, the restaurant has persevered, ironing out the kinks and confirming once and for all that this is one vast offering that tastes as good as it looks.

Before guests even get to a pre-prandial drink, it's the stunning CB fitout that will have tongues wagging, with the 225-seat dining room fusing vaulted ceilings, industrial accents and rustic raw wood, with white-washed exposed brickwork and generous patches of greenery. At the bar, choose from classic or signature cocktails like the namesake Corvo Bianco with Tepatio Reposado tequila, Martini & Rossi vermouth, lime and egg white, or swish straight to your table to sample the self-proclaimed ‘Italian Coastal’ fare.

Start with cocoa nib romesco prawns and rich, tomato-y meatballs, before moving on to mains including grilled whole branzino, Trenette Neri pasta with sea urchin, daikon and sesame, and scallops with smoked tomato and prosciutto. How’s that for large and in charge!
