Sip & GoghOne of Manila’s most popular new activities fits the bill for two unsuspecting types – the oenophile and the artist. Jumping on the global art jamming bandwagon, newcomer Sip & Gogh was created after the three founders transformed their initial vision – to raise funds for the Tulong Dunong Foundation, an organisation that seeks to help in furthering education for its local scholars, by way of selling paintings – into a decidedly more creative endeavour, bringing together eager locals and visitors and providing them with a chance to explore their artistic side.
The Quezon City ‘paint and sip’ studio is a bright, welcoming space, where walls are decorated with paintings past, easels stand on every surface, and a dedicated high bar displays wine bottles along the length of the counter. The format is simple: you sign up to a class – be it an open session, an instructor-led class (like a floral focus, seasonal themes, or specific masterpieces like a recreation of Van Gogh’s Starry Night), you invite your family and friends, and enjoy the accompanying pours and bites. With canvas, brushes, paints, and guidance all included, it’s a unique evening out and a testament to the growing art scene in Manila. Hip!
