Manila FAME

It’s no secret the first-rate and ever burgeoning Philippine interiors and décor scene is one of the most gorgeous object-rich in the world, as any avid PenCities reader will already know. From interior stylist Andy Vázquez-Prada’s customisable W/17  cache, to Markus Schmidt and Richard Danao’s sustainably sourced Firma  shell tassels, to contemporary, homegrown furniture by Designs Ligna, the Philippines is turning out some of the best and most sought-after products in the market. And once again the best of the local design bunch are set to show their wares at the Furnishings and Apparel Manufacturers’ Exchange (FAME) event in Manila this October.

As in previous events, the offering is both vast and diverse. Spread over two floors, the SMX Convention Centre’s more than 16,000 sq m of show-space opens October 17-18 to export buyers, and 19-20 to the general public, with designated zones highlighting the myriad wares on offer. ‘Manila Wear’ provides a platform for local fashion and accessories designers, ‘The Marketplace’ showcases community and sustainable products, and ‘Craft Spots’ throughout the event give you an insight into the manufacturing process with live craft demonstrations by local artisans. Be sure to register online ahead of time for your shot at FAME.
