Musical Must-See

March 07, 2016
Les Misérables

You’ve watched the movie, maybe even read the whopping book (well done, you!)... well, now you can see the world-famous stage musical. Les Misérables – the longest-running show in London’s West End and the second longest-running musical in the world – struts into the Metro for the first time, with a five-week run kicking off on 11 March at The Theatre at Solaire.

Les Miz (its showbizz nickname, don’t you know) ticks the musical, drama and romance boxes, with an emotional tale of ‘the miserable ones’. Set against the backdrop of revolutionary C.19th France, Victor Hugo’s novel tells the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean, who has been hunted for years by merciless policeman Javert after breaking his parole. Valjean’s decision to look after tragic factory worker Fantine’s daughter, Cosette, proves a momentous turning point.

A tribute to the survival of the human spirit, writer Alain Boublil and composer Claude-Michel Schönberg’s legendary musical has been seen by over 70 million people in 44 countries and 22 languages, so expect a cracking night (and don’t forget your hankie).

The international cast includes Simon Gleeson as Jean Valjean, Earl Carpenter as Javert and Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine, performing the 2010 special 25th anniversary update of the original show. Avoid being miserable and book now – tickets are going fast!
