Big Apple Flaves Hit Manila

First, they graced Manila with their comfort food sanctuary Borough. Next, they wowed with slice-haven Nolita. And now, not content to rest on their Gotham-inspired laurels, chef Cuit Kaufman and restaurateurs Patrick Santos and Albert Besa continue their quest to bring big, bold NYC flavours to the Philippine capital via their latest soon-to-be hotspot, LES Bagels, a sun-drenched, bi-level bakery specialising in the dense, doughy goodness that no one does better than New Yawk.

First things first – choose your bagel from a selection of bready donuts including classic, onion, pumpernickel and cinnamon raisin, then pick the all-important cream cheese-laden filling from tantalising options like traditional lox salmon, bacon cheddar and sun dried tomato and olive. Non bagel lovers (gasp!) are also well catered for with open-face sandwiches such as the Manhattan hoagie with turkey breast, brie and honey mustard, and the Village Veggie with artichokes, roasted peppers, capers and herb mayo. Sweet-tooths can get their sugar fix via cookies, brownies and jam-filled rugelach, then finally, pull up a rustic wooden pew and complete the NYC experience with a fizzy egg cream soda in vanilla or chocolate, or a good ol’ cawfee.
