Designer Blooms Café

Family-run flower shop chain Designer Blooms has been a longtime fixture in the Philippine capital for its fresh locally- and internationally-sourced blossoms. In fact, so beloved have the brand’s Tagaytay and Holland blooms proved that the second generation owners, sisters Maria Garcia and Issa Garcia-Sicam, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012. So what does one do to mark such an important milestone? Well, according to Maria and Issa, it’s expand their offering, though not with another outlet, but with an entirely new casual dining concept – the Designer Blooms Café in Ayala Alabang.

Amid the heady aroma of dreamy florals, and surrounded by rough concrete floors, whimsical mismatched furniture and raw brick walls, diners order up on delectable comfort dishes spanning mozzarella-topped lasagna layered with fresh house-made pasta and a rich meaty sauce; pesto-slathered grilled chicken paninis stuffed with spinach and artichoke; and salty-sweet bacon caramel popcorn. Team your meal with French press coffees made from organic beans by Los Angeles-based roasters LAMILL, or a refreshing Passion Berry Iced-Tea mixed with Egyptian calendula and blue malva petals. And don’t forget to grab a pretty posy to take home. Flower power!
