Best of British
Hong Kong and Britain have always had a special relationship, so why not celebrate it with fab food, booze and fun times?! For six days this November, Best of British brings a touch of Blighty to Honkers, with a spotlight on alfresco dining on the viewtiful landscaped lawns of Tamar Park.
The Great British Food Festival (8-13 Nov, noon-10.30pm) will see eight top local restaurants share their take on British cuisine. Sample dishes from chef Tom Aikens’ The Pawn, Mr & Mrs Fox, Popsy Modern Kitchen, Jamie’s Italian, Tango, Will Meyrick’s Mama San, Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen, and of course, Bombay Dreams (showcasing Britain’s adopted national cuisine – the curry!).
Themed events include a paired Wine & Cheese Evening by esteemed auctioneers Berry Bros. & Rudd (9 Nov, 5-11pm); a Whiskey Evening by The Famous Grouse (11 Nov, 5-11pm); and a Bacon & Beer Night by Guinness (12 Nov, noon-11pm), soundtracked by awesome Britpat ska collective The Red Stripes. Phwoar!
For a more refined affair, don your spiffiest Panama and indulge in cucumber sandwiches, scones, and strawberries n’ cream at The Great British Garden Party by William Chase (13 Nov, noon-11pm), serving high tea in the Popsy English Garden. Anyone for croquet?
Virgin Atlantic’s ticketed open-air Best of British Film Festival (8-13 Nov, 6-10.30pm) teams classic Brit flicks with vino. Anglophiles can also enjoy live music, children's entertainment, art installations and innovative cocktails. I say!
