Ladies’ Purse Day
Ahh, a day at the races. You can pretend it’s all about fleet-footed fillies and heart-stopping dashes down the straight, but let’s stop horsing around. As most ladies well know, a trip to the track is simply an excellent excuse to don their most fabulous finery. How refreshing, then, that one chic Hong Kong race day acknowledges exactly that.
Originating in 1846, the Sa Sa-sponsored Ladies’ Purse Day is a unique, annual occasion where thousands of women gussy up in glamorous attire and trot off to the Sha Tin Racecourse for a day of horse-racing, outfit appreciation and general champagne-fueled revelry.
Having handled the all-important task of selecting the perfect dress, jewels, heels and head gear, canter over for much mode and make-up merriment, with special events ranging from runway shows and makeover stations to hat workshops and selfie booths.
And, when the day is all done, you’ll even get to take home a new little something stylish in the form of a diamante-studded silver pendant. Oh go on, slip on those Choos and have a flutter!
