Isono Eatery and Bar

As if you needed another reason to get along to Hong Kong’s buzzy new cultural hub PMQ, with many a trendoid-tempting eat and boutique already making city-wide waves (we’re looking at you, Aberdeen Street Social and Lala Curio). But needed or not, Drawing Room Concept’s Isono Eatery and Bar is a more than welcomed addition to the fold, with chef Paolo Casagrande (of Barcelona’s Michelin-starred Lasarte fame) helming the kitchen, and local diners getting well acquainted with the acclaimed culinarian’s Spanish-inflected taste-bombs without so much as leaving Central.

In the sprawling open-plan space of high ceilings, exposed Edisons and hardwood floors, Casagrande and team deliver plate after plate of classic Med fare, with standout dishes including charcoal oven-roasted Colorado lamb with Romesco sauce; seafood paella with flip-fresh mussels, clams, prawns and cuttlefish; and marsala tiramisu served with toffee ice-cream and pineapple. Apt accompaniments to the meal come in the form of cocktails by mixologist Charlene Dawes (like the gin-based Sparkling Santorini with soda water, house-made thyme and lemon sherbet syrups), or bottles from a staggering 44-page selection of globally-sourced wines spanning New and Old World varieties and bubbles like Jacques Selosse Brut Rosé Grand Cru.
