Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong
Think music festivals are where the fun’s at? Nowadays it’s art fairs that are pulling in the fashion-forward punters, tapping into the buzz of preview nights, launch parties and celeb-packed exhibitions. From Frieze London to Sydney Contemporary and Art Basel Miami Beach, you can get your culture fix while sipping cocktails, scoffing canapes and hobnobbing with the beautiful people.
Founded by Will Ramsay (of Art HK fame), the fourth edition of Hong Kong’s Affordable Art Fair is a fun, approachable and less expensive alternative to the city’s higher-profile Art Basel, and is the perfect go-to if you’ve never bought a piece of art before. You’ll discover a smart edit of over 110 local and global galleries, from Hong Kong and Macau to Singapore and Seoul, saving you from pounding the city’s vertical streets. Up for grabs are thousands of works by living artists, both emerging and established, such as Jacky Tsai and Yaz. Your wallet won’t be wincing, as all are priced between HK$1,000 and HK$100,000, making art-buying accessible to everyone.
Enjoy art tours and advisory tips for a cultural shopping trip, or check out talks, artist-led workshops, and art-based activities for kids at the Children’s Art Studio. Debut art salon ARTFUL with TEDxHongKong features stellar talent including The Connor Brothers and Cath Love; while the Young Talent Hong Kong expo showcases local up-n-comers; and Special Projects offers international immersive works.
