The Whisky Library

As at any good library, the shelves here are lined with all the classics, from Ben Nevis to Caol Ila to Kilchoman… but this collection is one for lovers of brews, not books. Stocked crate-strewn floor to industrial-lit ceiling with the finest, handcrafted and distilled spirits from around the world, boasts one more major difference from your local lending library – forget the return by stamp; as it’s all available for purchase by the bottle.

As the name suggests, whisky is the mainstay at this den of gentlemanly drops, with hundreds of varietals from the big names of Islay and Speyside, as well as artisanal vintages and limited batches, all expertly aged. Connoisseurs can circle the walls to inspect the collection, or sink back into a plush leather armchair and sample whichever smooth single malt steals your fancy. ‘Librarians’ are on hand to help amateurs sort their peat from wheats or, for those who prefer tipples of another type, The Whisky Library also stocks small-batch and boutique gin, vodka, rum and brandy. And come September, scotch lovers will have yet another place to wet their whistles – TWL is set to open a second store on the men’s floor of the Landmark Atrium, offering not only tastings but also classes teaching discerning drinkers how to best store and pour.
