Le 16 Août
The persistent humidity might make August in Hong Kong a far more sultry experience than the same month in Paris, but Fragrant Harbour fashionistas can still dress for a sunny stroll down the Champs-Élysées at recently opened bijou boutique, Le 16 Août. And its moniker, meaning ‘16th August’, is apt given this Soho concept store is overflowing with floaty fabrics and sheer laces perfect for the easy elegance of a Parisian summer.
US expat and store owner Tiffany Yan designs many of the pieces herself, using high quality European-spun materials to create simple, layered peplums, classically tailored coats and fit-and-flare floral dresses. The clothing colour palette behind the store’s glassy black façade stays largely muted with lots of clean cream and blush shades, a number of wintry monochrome items and the occasional show-stopping dress in red or emerald. Dreamy gowns and wedding wear are the boutique’s specialty, and all items can be customised or altered to give a perfect flattering fit. To complete your chic ensemble there are also a few carefully curated accessories, including classic cat-eye sunglasses by Linda Farrow and quirky Nach jewellery, plus Mad et Len perfume for that all-important final touch. Charmant!
