Ed1tus + Butchers Club Deli
Hong Kong’s recently launched men’s multi-brand clothing and lifestyle showroom Ed1tus is certainly located off the beaten track, but those determined to discover the 7,000 sq ft industrial loft in Aberdeen will be duly rewarded. Yes, you’ll find the impeccably-curated fash cache – including designs by haute clothiers from Girelli Bruni to Mauro Grifoni, covetable vintage furniture globally sourced via HK concept The World Beyond, and custom-built motorcycles by local label Angry Lane – but you’ll also get up close and personal with the culinary stylings of Butchers Club Deli, the long-awaited, eponymous cafe offshoot of the meat mecca from veteran chefs Jon Glover and Aarik Persaud.
To sate a tummy grumble mid or post-spree, settle in at one of the long communal tables in the deli’s hyper-industrial, minimalist concrete space, and get acquainted with the meat-centric selection of lip-smacking plates, including the Butchers Board (a daily-changing rotation of artisanal cured meats, cheeses, pickles and breads), and hearty New York-style sandwiches stuffed with slow roasted dry aged prime rib, pastrami and corned beef. Meanwhile, vegetarians can indulge in decadent alternatives like white bean and chickpea burgers with halloumi and pesto crème fraiche, plus desserts like the creamy blueberry and caramel cheesecake. With this double bill, we’d say it’s well worth the trek to Aberdeen...
