Tiki Tipples

March 30, 2015
Lost Lake
Mixology maven Paul McGee made a substantial splash with his popular tiki treat Three Dots and a Dash, but now he’s positively making waves with his tropi-cool new drink den Lost Lake. Boasting an extensive collection of over 275 rum varieties and a dozen or so craft cocktails masterminded by the man himself, Lost Lake is already heaving on a nightly basis, so arrive early – or be prepared to queue with the sea of libationary enthusiasts.

Once inside the Hawaiian-esque space of banana leaf-print wallpaper, woven bamboo ceilings and glass spheres dangling with nets, get acquainted with the selection of tipples, including the umbrella-festooned Cocoanut Grove Cooler made with scotch, Batavia Arrack, passion fruit and orgeat; or the colossal Tortuga bowl filled with aged Guyana rum, sweet vermouth, curacao, pomegranate and lime – perfect for sharing... or whatever floats your boat. However, if something less frilly is called for, their exclusive Lost Lake Exotica Ale by local Marz Community Brewing should hit the right spot. Hungry, too? Adjoining little sis Ameri-Chinese takeaway, Thank You, can have chef Gabriel Freeman’s (Mott St and The Publican) eggrolls with drunken shrimp; and fried rice with fermented chili, Chinese bacon and crispy ginger delivered straight to your table. Get ready to rum-raid!
