V Wine Room

If what you seek is a post-work or late-night perch where premier Californian wines can be enjoyed alongside handcrafted beers (in this case, from the Figueora Mountain Brewing Company) and sweet and savoury bites, head straight for West Hollywood’s newest and simply monikered boutique bar, V. Opened in January, it’s a tasting room, wine bar and vino merchant all-in-one that’s set in a former historic library with stylish dark wood and decorative barrels, and bedecked with the work of local artists.

Attracting both seasoned aficionados and occasional imbibers, V comes courtesy of Michael Consbruck, a landscape architect and closet connoisseur who sought to promote the small but acclaimed wine producers of the Golden State, offering an ever-changing menu of vintage and fine wines hailing from the vineyards of Napa, Sonoma and Santa Barbara, among others.

With the majority of bottles unavailable elsewhere in the city and some so exclusive that there are only a few cases worldwide, must-tries include Tessa Marie’s Vermentino, the blended Marycrest rouge or blanc and a Sol Rouge Rose from Lake County, perfect for pairing with small plates of cured meats, assorted cheeses, champagne-washed fruit or a sweet treat from local baker Cake+Art.

903 Westbourne Drive / West Hollywood / +1 310 339 9202 / open Sun-Wed 10am-9pm and Thurs-Sat 10am-10pm / www.vwesthollywood.com
