For the perfect post-Melrose pick-me-up, dip into divine new cafe Rubies+Diamonds for a truly original cuppa.

Nitrogen infusion technology, plus outlandish flavour profiles (think smoked chili mocha, rose vanilla or caramel sea salt latte), make for delicious experimental brews. The laid-back venue’s no slouch either, set as it is in the revamped modernist Columbia Square building.

With seven decades of experience whipping up tea and coffee, these guys know a thing or two about tradition, but mix it up with cutting-edge processes and innovative ingredients.

Pour over coffees will appeal to serious caffeine-heads, with the signature Cold Brew taking 18 hours to make (don’t worry, they prepare it in advance!). The team has even developed a caffeine rating system – CAF (Caffeine Amplitude Formula) – so you can tell how strong your brew is, from CAF 0 (no caffeine, but all flavour) to 4 (blow your head off). Don’t miss the Bkon brew, made with a special vacuum machine.

Positive Proper-Teas list their healing superpowers, promising detoxing, sleep or stamina. Iced teas, such as Jasmine Lemonade, are ideal for summer days. Get even cooler with a Nitro Chilled Drink, including Nitro Ginger Ale Green Tea. Local Californian wine, beer and cider also make the cut, and there are kids’ drinks. Pastries, desserts and roti flatbreads with global toppings, plus free WiFi, persuade you to linger.
