The Love Song Bar
Never one to rest on his laurels, prodigious music promoter Mitchell Frank has been tirelessly bringing underground acts to the surface via his performance venues The Echo and Echoplex for over a decade now. And he has recently added yet another string to his guitar with the redux of LA’s historic Regent Theater, newly unveiled with the addition of lovely libation station The Love Song Bar – the perfect spot for guests to grab a crafty pre-concert gargle.
A far cry from your average indie dive bar, Love Song is a bright and inviting atrium of matte grey-painted panelling, tufted lime green banquettes, benchwood chairs, polished concrete floors and a smattering of lovely antiques and curiosities. In keeping with the already cool vibe, an old-school soundtrack flows from a vinyl record player, and the drinks list features fresh takes on classic cocktails, such as Interpol’s PDA (an updated tequila old-fashioned with El Jimador Anejo Tequila, Angostura bitters, orange peel and Luxardo cherry), and TS Eliot’s Ether (mixed with Beefeater Gin and Noilly Prat vermouth). Or, hop heads can nab a draft beer from their curated craft selection, including Quebecois Unibroue’s golden ale La Fin du Monde, and kick back with a pizza and Italian antipasti, ordered in from sis establishment Prufrock. Must be Love!
