Black Rabbit Rose
Reviving the magic of showbizz in the heart of Hollywood, Black Rabbit Rose is a vintagey velvety spectacle-driven bar attached to a theatre with shows curated by magician Rob Zabrecky. Expect illusionists, magicians, burlesque dancers, and more in an immersive scarlet-hued wonderland.
This quirky night out comes care of twin impresarios the Houston Brothers (aka Mark and Jonnie) – the team behind LA hotspots No Vacancy, Dirty Laundry, Pour Vous (Parisian boudoir), and La Descarga (pre-Castro Havana) – who conjure up a world in the shadows. The space is divided into two rooms – the Black Rabbit Bar and Rose Theatre – with ticketed shows Thursday through Saturday.
Quaff creative craft cocktails with your posse at the bar, with tipples including Dark Arts, Smoke n Mirrors, and Siamese Twin. Unusual ingredients span activated charcoal, turmeric-infused cognac and mango candy. Afterwards, graze on Thai-Chinese share plates, including salt & pepper popcorn shrimp, from neighbouring take-out window Crying Tiger (arrive early as dining is first-come, first-served).
Next, move on to the adjoining theatre for live magic and variety acts, with cabaret-style kookiness and much interaction. Tickets include general admission or a VIP cocktail experience. The bar is open for post-show socialising.
Late Night at the Rose Theatre, every Friday and Saturday night (10.30pm-2am), blends DJs spinning discs with magical vignettes. Table reservations include bottle/punchbowl service. This place is nothing if not eclectic, so expect the unexpected…
