The Roxy & On the Rox
For just over 40 years, the Roxy Theatre has seen the legendary likes of Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Marley take to its stage, while its adjacent after-hours hideaway On The Rox has in the past been a favourite haunt of John Lennon, Alice Cooper and Keith Moon. So it was with utter (and understandable) heartbreak that Los Angeles revellers received news of both venues shuttering for the unforeseen future. However, their dismay was shortly afterwards misplaced as only a couple of months later, the two spaces were back in business and better than ever.
The revamped Roxy continues to attract standout talent with performances from eccentric Brit vocalist Paloma Faith and vintage funk collective Average White Band topping the bill in coming months. Meanwhile, its more intimate and now invitation-only sibling OTR has been rendered rather more highbrow with LatAm-style cornices, unfathomably cream armchairs and hardwood floors courtesy of designer extraordinaire Matt Winter (see 41 Ocean, Power House, and Melrose Umbrella Co). Add to that, up-and-comer DJ talent curated by Jason Swartz, and a full bar featuring an impressive cache of mezcals, and you’ve got a revamped duo that will Rox your socks off.theroxy.com / On the Rox / to get on the guestlist email firstname.lastname@example.org or ask your concierge / otrsunset.com
