The Improv has long been a renowned launch pad for Hollywood’s budding comedians – Adam Sandler, Dave Chapelle and Robin Williams, to name but a few A-listers, all honed their jokes here – so it seemed only right that to match its glittering reputation, the venue should boast an equally bill-topping dining concept. Cue the arrival of its new onsite restaurant Roadhouse LA, from none other than Adam Fleischman (of Umami Burger fame) in partnership with chef Kyle Schutte.

Pre-prandial, punny cocktails like A Little Dickel Dew Ya, a 12-year-old George Dickel Whiskey with Mountain Dew Redux and a twist of lime mixed by barkeep Dave Fernie (Pour Vous and Harvard & Stone), may well aid in soothing any showtime nerves. Edge firmly taken off, follow up with Schutte’s internationally-inspired barbeque menu, featuring the likes of ‘Punjabi Poutine’ with Indian cottage cheese and goat gravy, and roasted pork ribs served with ripe watermelon rinds, all heartily paired with sides of crispy mac n’ cheese spiked with bourbon and honey, or ‘campfire’ carrots with thyme marshmallows. Then for dessert there’s a selection of all-American treats from s’mores to banana cream pie. Tums sated, now all that’s left is to grab a pew for a spot of edgy improv!
