A single glance at the gold-stamped initials on the sole of Cinderella’s bespoke crystal-embellished Jimmy Choo slingback pump is all it would take for the 21st-century prince to know his inamorata’s name – provided, of course, that her über-chic fairy godmother gift shopped at Choo’s gorgeously refurbished and expanded 2,148-sq-ft Rodeo Drive boutique, where the brand’s first-ever Made-to-Order service has just enjoyed its world premiere.
Cinderella aside, all LA-based Choo devotees can now pencil in an appointment with an in-house shoe maestro to devise an original design of her dream slipper, customising one of the brand’s four iconic silhouettes - Anouk, Xenia, Tite or Lance - with a tailored heel height, shiny sole monogram, and colour/texture combination, from lustrous satin to daredevil snakeskin and metallic leather. Boasting a sparkling new design concept conjured by creative directress Sandra Choi together with London-based David Collins Studio, the aristocratic split-level 40s boudoir-inspired space sings indulgent opulence, complete with a mise-en-scène of plush mink velvet furnishings, rose- and gold-brushed marble accents, mother of pearl chevron, and iridescent spherical sparklers. It is also the first store in the US (and outside of Asia) to incorporate Choo’s entire men’s, women’s and accessory collections. Dreamy!
