Martin & Brockett
Home is where the heart is. At least it is if your roost is spruced with lots of lovely tchotchkes, fabulous furny and look-at-me art. If, on the other hand, your casa could do with an intramural nip/tuck, make haste to professional nest-featherer Jason Martin’s showroom on burgeoning Pico Boulevard, Martin & Brockett.
An interiors emporium, design studio and glorified stockroom for the gimlet-eyed aesthete’s ever-expanding collection of covetable curios, the skylit space not only invites you in, it offers you a handsome place to kick back and contemplate your canvas.
The designer describes his elegantly eclectic taste as ‘part traditionalist, part modernist’, and that’s exactly what his style salon suggests – just don’t expect matchy matchy. To your right there might be an ornate, authentic Biedermeier commode, while on the other hand sits a Mid-Century Modern recliner poised next to a Navajo pottery party or an assemblage of polished stone obelisks.
Any gaps that Martin has met during his career beautifying humble abodes have been filled with his own line of appointments. From mod angular side tables to a sinuous solid pine stool, it’s as dapper and diverse as its producer’s penchants. One thing unites it all, though, it’s guaranteed to bring the house down.
