Faith & Flower
Making headlines from Downtown’s WaterMarke Tower this spring is sexy new dining haunt Faith & Flower, which gleams with dripping gold chandeliers, antique 1920s mirrors, bountiful cabinets and a mural from local street artist Robert Vargas. Luckily, F&F backs up its beguiling visuals with industry bigwigs – thanks to culinary school dropout turned acclaimed chef Michael Hung (from San Francisco’s Michelin-starred La Folie) and star mixologist Michael Lay, this is much more than LA’s newest eye candy.
Begin with a cocktail from the ambitious lineup of beautifully crafted, nostalgic tipples (there’s the iconic Negroni from Café Casoni circa 1919), or try an original creation like the Vaudeville, mixed with Square One botanical vodka, raspberry gum, rosemary, Italian meringue and bitters. On to the New American menu next, and discover locally-sourced delicacies like tender hamachi ceviche; hand rolled garganelli with butternut squash, swiss chard and Humboldt Fog goat cheese; steak tartare with Konbu seaweed, miso cream and black sesame; and a divine oxtail agnolotti. And for the grand finale? Request a spectacular tableside absinthe show, or for the less daring, a signature seasonal sweet treat by pastry virtuoso Ben Spungin. In Faith & Flower, we trust!
