Design Within Reach
Seemingly in homage to the service it offers to clients, LA’s leading home furnishing store and consultancy Design Within Reach has ditched its old digs for a decidedly more modern – not to mention spacious – home upgrade, having recently unveiled its chic new showroom on Melrose, located inside the La Cienega Design Quarter. Occupying a staggering 10,000 sq feet, the two-story DWR stays true to its founding philosophy – to provide accessible, style-conscious design for the modern homemaker – via new features like a 30ft colour swatch wall, 25 full room vignettes, hanging ‘Light Cloud’ installation, and even a private consultation room.
Vignettes represent every room in the house, from bedrooms to lounges to outdoor spaces, making it altogether easy to find inspiration and to visualise the way each piece might feather your own nest. The roster of designers includes names both up-and-coming and established, and timeless standout pieces include the classic LC4 chaise lounge (designed 1928) by Le Corbusier, colourful Charles and Ray Eames storage units, ex Herman Miller design director George Nelson’s pendant lamps, and the iconic Four Seasons bar stool dreamed up by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. With everything from shelving to lighting and tableware to linens, DWR has conveniently got all you need for a design-savvy, C.21st abode tucked under one roof and, like it says on the tin, well within reach.
