Vintage Norma Kamali, ‘90s Dolce & Gabbana, ‘80s Bill Blass and ‘70s Valentino… apart from sounding like our dream wardrobe, these are just a handful of the pieces up for grabs at the newly-opened Bustown Modern, a designer vintage boutique now open in Beverly Grove and giving L.A. stalwarts like Decades and Lily et Cie a run for their money. The collection, culled by the gimlet-eyed Anessa Woods, first gained a loyal following from Woods’ eBay store based out of Ohio, and after a few lucrative years in the business it was only natural for Woods to move out to celebrity and stylist-studded Beverly Hills, where many a red carpet party awaits.
In Art Deco meets Hollywood Regency surrounds, the 700 sq ft Melrose space is now home to a partial, rotating selection of Woods’ immaculate collection, with standouts including the fur rack (think a pristine Guy Laroche Russian Sable coat, ‘70s Gucci suede and lynx fur cape, even a patchwork Mongolian lamb fur vest), and a funky selection of palazzo jumpsuits from the swinging ‘60s (including a covetable Yves Saint Laurent haute couture piece and metallic Norma Kamali number). And with Judith Leiber belts, Bob Stringer baubles, and Givenchy leather logo boots rounding out the accessory selection, Bustown is already cementing its place in the L.A. shopping circuit – simply fabulous!
