House of Jensen’s Culinary Debut

Danish silversmith Georg Jensen’s legacy may already be more than a century in the making, but it certainly isn’t over yet. 

Making further cross-cultural inroads is The Georg – a first of its kind culinary concept for the brand – situated within House of Jensen, the newly opened Beijing lifestyle villa and boutique hidden among the hutong mansions of Qianhai (and designed by Space CPH of Copenhagen’s revered Noma, no less).

First, take a gander through the impressive space, perhaps stopping for a shop of some signature, sculptural pieces by NY-based jeweller Jordan Askill, then retreat for a Scandinavian refuel at your pre-booked table. 

The complete Georg outfit comprises a ‘casual fine dining’ restaurant, private salon, courtyard atrium, bar and lounge, and it all features – as you’d expect – elegant Danish fare with a splash of Asian influence. 

Opt for the full tasting menu, otherwise slow-cooked short rib with carrot and turnip makes a wonderfully warming dish, as does their signature winter offering of pumpkin, sage and chestnut.

It’s worth noting that just adjacent to the courtyard is the Beijing Center for the Arts, so if you like a bit of mod art and culture, add gallery hopping to the itinerary for a full day of riverside fun.
