From the shophouse frontage with its crates of organic vegetables and shelves of goodies like coconut, oil and aromatic cinnamon, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was a grocery store, and that’s all part of chef and owner Natcha Chatlaong’s plan for her natural kitchen, cafe and restaurant. Having honed her craft at Bangkok stalwarts Bo.Lan and Appia Chatlaong’s first standalone foray into food and beverage is an airy, two-storey, all day eatery with a relaxed, easy atmosphere, a handful of outdoor tables, and plenty of simple brick and wood within. From the morning get-go of frittata with roast tomato or eggs Benedict, to lunchtime quinoa salads and fresh homemade cauliflower soup, the accent is on organic and locally-sourced ingredients right down to the divinely meaty, handmade Sloane sausages and Maison Jean Philippe artisan breads. At dinner the continually changing menu ramps up a notch to include the likes of seafood stew with tiger prawns, pork wellington with apple sauce, crabmeat lasagne or risotto of the day. A series of fresh juices and strong Chiang Rai coffee provide perfect, and healthy, accompaniment, and don’t miss the fresh-baked goods like pineapple upside down cake for afters. Simply good!
