Out of the Kloset

June 13, 2013

From modest beginnings in a 9 sq ft outlet in Siam Square, Thai fashion designer Mollika Ruangkritya has come a long way in 10 years with Kloset - a womenswear line blossoming in popularity with Bangkok’s youngest movers and shakers.

Kloset boasts four local boutiques - with one recently opened in the revamped Siam Center - and an emerging presence on the global scene, with her girlish, playful style having been transported to fashion meccas New York, London and Tokyo, to name a few.

Mollika’s childhood passion for making dolls and remodelling vintage items is evident in Kloset today, with playsuits and sundresses adorned in embroidery, lace nets and striking retro patterns evocative of the 1960s, and accessories ranging from fun, chunky rings to hairbands delicately smattered with glass petals and beads.

Look to Kloset Red Carpet, the brand’s smash hit catwalk line, for a glimpse of Mollika’s more outlandish side. Veering from silky pastel rompers to slinky, sophisticated shift mini-dresses, Red Carpet is the perfect choice for Bangkok’s balmy summer evenings. In addition to clothes, sister store Kloset Etcetera offers a range of lifestyle products including pyjamas, towels, overnight luggage, iPhone covers and pencil cases stamped with the brand’s bold colours and signature patterns. It’s time to open up your Kloset!
