Sharp Suiting

Vvon Sugunnasil
Svelte, pocket-sized tailor Vvon Sugunnasil may well be located in The Barkyard but – as repeat customers like actor-model Nadech Kugimiya will attest – gents always leave looking rather more spiffy top dog than motley mutt. Founded by GQer and all-round dapper chap Thattaworn 'Von' Sugunnasil (who first honed his sewing skills in a Parisian couturier), the sleek boutique specialises in fully bespoke shirts, suits, trousers and ties that reflect his contemporary take on the classic French cut.

It’s a snug fit, but the bitsy atelier belies its veritable bevy of choices. Start with a quick flick through the extensive selection of high-quality fabrics ranging from Japanese pure wool to Italian silks, exquisite English Dormeuil and comfortable stain-resistant cottons. Everything from the lapel length to belt loops and handmade horn buttons can be customised, with narrow shelves showcasing 20 types of collar and cuff alone. Those that are more used to wearing a tee than a tuxedo can rely on Von himself for sage style advice, then its just a matter of getting measured up before the Bangkok-based tailor team set to work. Suits generally take a month to make and require two fittings but fly-by visitors can have items posted home. Fix up, look sharp!
