Salt + Salt Smoke

Salt Gets Smokin’
Nippon-French bistro Salt has been a gourmand staple since it opened four years ago, fast winning over Bangkok’s hip set with its pretty mod plates and glassy, in/outdoor industri-chic setting. With such resounding success to their names, brother-sister team Ruangrit and Antika Teparrak could have easily opted to rest on their culinary laurels, but have instead put their flavoursome flair into a casual new concept: vibey burger joint Salt Smoke.

Bitsy in size, the freshly unveiled street-eat counter has inherited the same aesthetic as its nearby sibling, with brushed concrete walls, bottle-lined blond-wood shelves, potted plants and just a handful of two-top tables lining the open-doored frontage. The menu also follows Salt’s suit with global flavour pairings and an emphasis on top-notch produce – think rum-marinated mussels, grilled chicken ceasar salad, and prime Wagyu patties with foie gras and crispy bacon sandwiched between a fluffy brioche bun. Yum. But where would a burger be without its best bud beer...?  And of course, there’s ample selection of domestic and global chiller-cold lagers from Singha to Vedett. On those occasions when something swish is required, stunning original Salt is still unbeatable for its frogs legs, spicy shrimp yakisoba, wood-fired pizzas and non-stop buzz, but if you’re after a fast and friendly fix this newbie sure is smokin’ hot.
