Mirror Mask Vintage

March 02, 2015
Red-carpet Glamour
With over 10 years under her (sparkly) belt as a freelance stylist for prominent Thai glossies like ELLE and Seventeen, Chanya Junsophonsri certainly knows a thing or two about what’s hot and what’s not. Little surprise then, that her own personal collection – amassed during her travels across the world – has long been the envy of local fashionistas. So much so, in fact, that when she began selling her one-off garments and old-school statement pieces to eager buyers online, the venture soon flourished into a brick-and-mortar boutique, monikered Mirror Mask Vintage.

Tucked away on the second floor of the Black Amber Thonglor Social Club, a hip new multi-concept space with slick bar, barbers and tailor shop, ladies should first deposit their hubbies on the ground floor for a close shave and a single malt, before slinking upstairs into MMV’s intimate, tightly curated quarters. There, you’ll come face to face with racks of colourful and unusual mint condition finds, including a Brit-sourced embroidered cocktail dress dating back to circa 1920, a 1940s silk Japanese haori jacket, and a vibrant, exquisitely detailed pre-loved kaftan from South Africa. We simply can’t wait to see what she brings back from her next trip!
