Ekkamai Eatery

Hugo Bar & Eatery
To those looking for a top tipple but hoping to stay away from the increasingly crowded Sukhumvit and Thonglor hubs, you’ll be glad to know that one sister street formerly quiet on the culinary front has been experiencing an exciting revival. That street is nearby Ekkamai, and it’s home to a handful of chic new restaurants and bars, but leading the pack is the sleek, 1920s gentleman’s club-style Hugo Bar & Eatery. Fitted with wooden floors, beamed ceilings, low-slung tufted leather sofas and industrial touches like the statement open clock which calls to mind the Scorsese film of the same name, Hugo’s biggest sell is, in fact, its atmospheric outdoor terrace, a vision of string lights and wicker chairs.

So take a perch on the twinkly patio to peruse the menu, starting with one of the bar’s signature blends like the fruity Passion Goji or the quirky Mellow Pillow (with marshmallow-infused vodka and orange). From the dinner menu, expect French and Italian-inspired bites like crispy duck confit on mushroom fritters, creamy pasta with tiger prawns and tobiko, and 180-day grain fed Angus tenderloin filet; while the recently-launched brunch menu means you can take an American-style ‘pancake tower’ or classic eggs benedict on the deck and under the sun. Nabe fave!
