Kenneth Cole New York

March 24, 2014
New York, New York!
Innovation is an undeniably key criteria for getting ahead in the world of fashion, a fact that designer Kenneth Cole is more than familiar with: thirty years ago he broke into the New York scene by applying for a movie-making licence that gave him permission to park a 40-ft trailer in Midtown Manhattan, from where he sold 40,000 shoes, created a short film, and made his name in fashion – all in four days work. Three decades later, with his high street brand Kenneth Cole Reaction already a worldwide export, the designer is turning his attention to the high-end catwalk iteration of his designs, Kenneth Cole New York, and unveiled his newest branch in Bangkok.

Touting the typical Manhattanite tough but tailored look, many of Cole’s pieces come in wardrobe mainstay black – think leather vests with studded lapels, bone leather T-shirts, and black pleated scuba-material skirts and bandeau tops. However, his SS14 collection also features Urban Jungle, a slinky range of tropical and exotic prints; and edgy, athletic Harlem Chic, an oversized line in sports-inspired meshes, crepe and jacquard harem pants, and printed blouses in acid yellow and absinthe green. Especially coveted items include a sleek black top with a wide neckline that dips down at the back, and a quirky heeled take on the gladiator shoe in a dusky grey, both perfect for injecting a little New York sass into your wardrobe!
