Bangkok Farmers Market

March 10, 2014
To Market, To Market!
Thanks to a growing desire to eat healthily, a greater support for local enterprises, and an increased understanding of the importance of sustainable farming on the fringes of urban environments, the phenomenon of the farmers market has taken root in many major cities across the world, and Bangkok is no exception. Running every last weekend of the month at K-Village, the Bangkok Farmers Market parades a range of produce from organically-grown seasonal vegetables and fruit, prepared foods, and artisan breads, to eco-friendly beauty products, clothing, pottery, and flowers.

In addition, the monthly fair offers live music, entertainment for children (such as face-painting and hands-on activities), a great chance to learn about the local farming scene, and also the means to dabble in your own bit of urban gardening thanks to the ready-planted wheatgrass trays and mushroom pods that are on sale. But there’s no denying that for us, the food is the main pull, and always flying off the shelf like hot cakes are Joe Sloanes' well-seasoned Cumberland and Toulouse sausages; fresh-baked bagels, brownies, and rice crispy treats from Bagel Cafe; Minas’ artisan pots of coconut oil peanut butter; and flip-fresh fish tacos from El Mariachi Taqueria. Go hungry!
