Sweet Avenue

June 30, 2014
Bangkok's Sweetest Strip
Whopper shopping mecca Siam Paragon really has it all: mega Thai and international chains, spas and salons, textile gallery and urban park, endless eateries specialising in local and global cuisines, and now it even has a ‘Sweet Avenue’, showcasing an impressive collection of dessert joints that will have any sweet tooth feeling – literally – like a kid in a candy store. If you’ve got a sugar craving to sate, make this your first port of call…

Fancy a flapjack? Well, Pancake Café’s got your back with cloud-like fluffy pancakes plated à la mode and smothered with downright sinful toppings like strawberry crumble, hot fudge and Nutella. Meanwhile, patisserie Pastel bakes French éclairs, with cream-stuffed standouts coated in chocolate caviar, popcorn and salted caramel. Or if you’re more of a cake gal, gallop over to Fukuoka-born Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake for the signature melt-in-your-mouth cheesecakes (including a chocolate incarnation) that have already made waves in Singapore, Shanghai and Taipei. If all this sugar has left you a little parched, simply join the queue at iced bubble tea spot ChaNoir, whose best-selling brew – the vanilla-flavoured ‘Silvermoon’ – is made with TWG-sourced gourmet leaves. Sugar fix sated – just don’t tell the dentist!
