They are self-proclaimed architecture industry innovators, and with an illustrious CV punctuated with high-profile projects and myriad international awards, who can argue with them? Foster + Partners is indeed one of the most in demand design firms anywhere in the world, so it really comes as no surprise to find its touring exhibition, The Art of Architecture, has already garnered rave reviews in Malaysia, China and Mexico. The sustainable and ecological design showcase now makes its Thailand debut, setting up a temporary home in the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre, where scaled models and sketches of more than 80 of the world’s most impressive superstructures will be on show – and offering unique insight into the firm’s design process – until June 29.
Don’t miss the Frankfurt Commerzbank Tower display with its three rooftop gardens, London’s ‘Gherkin’ exhibit, and the Smithsonian Institution’s Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard presentation. If looking is simply not enough, there are educational lectures hosted by the firm’s top architects including Sunphol Sorakul’s ‘Design for a Better City’, ‘Language of Light’ presented by Emily Fan in collaboration with lighting specialist ERCO, plus a 90-minute ‘Build Your Own Skyscraper’ workshop for kids. Sure beats Legoland!
Until 29 June 2014. Check schedule for supplementary events.
