Moko Coffee & Eatery
Martine Pailloux may have made a name for herself as an interior designer, with notable projects like boutique resort Ocean Bangkok to her credit, but the seasoned decorator has recently shifted gears and ventured into the unfamiliar realm of food and beverage with her gallery-cum-bistro Moko Coffee & Eatery. The airy, natural light-dappled space features lacquered concrete floors and minimalist wooden furniture, a pared back combination providing a clean and clear backdrop to the rotating series of local artwork curated via Pailloux’s experienced eye.
Head chef Marco Rosato (who’s clocked many hours in myriad Parisian restaurants) keenly employs seasonal produce sourced from the government-run Royal Projects farms to bring alive his succinct Mediterranean-style menu. A visit during the day means lunch standouts like the waistline-friendly Nourishing Malibu Salad tossed with shrimp, bacon, eggs, sweet corn, shiitake and wild greens; bruschetta with Jabugo Iberico ham, juicy cherry tomatoes and thick chunks of mozzarella; and a fiery sea bass tartare with pomegranate and red pepper. Pair your plate with a cup of Harney & Sons gourmet tea, Illy or Nespresso coffee, a lush fruit smoothie, or a classic cocktail from a list spanning Bloody Marys to Sangria. Take a bow Madame Pailloux, you’re officially a restaurateur!
