Famed Family Kitchen
With an appearance on Iron Chef Thailand and multiple guest demonstrations on national cooking shows under his hat, chef Art Prasopchok is a bonafide culinary celebrity in Bangkok’s foodie circles, known as much for his amiable personality as for his impeccable technique. So when word escaped that he had quietly opened the ground floor of his home as a private kitchen, the city’s hungry hordes descended, seemingly en masse, to sample his home-cooked comfort fare.
The cosy indoor dining room is dotted with charming, mismatched furniture, but in milder weather, get comfortable on a shaded deck chair in the pretty garden instead. Peruse the short and sweet menu, peppered with fusion delights and familiar flavours like black squid ink seafood spaghetti tossed with kaffir lime leaves and green peppercorns; and spicy grilled sausage salad topped with spicy garlic, cilantro and lime sauce. Round off with a slice of Prasopchok’s all-time hit, the Blue Curaçao-infused ‘Smurf Cake’ with sea-salt dusted cream frosting, then simply kick back and relax. You really do feel like one of the family here – special!
