Celebrate your stay in Tokyo with originality, style and glamour as found only in Japan, with a professional fitting of a formal kimono. Available for parties of up to four and for ages five and up, this programme is a fun and elegant way for single travellers, families or groups of friends to commemorate a visit to Japan. Optional hairstyling, make-up and a professional photograph may be arranged at additional cost.
Worn by men, women and children alike, kimonos come in a range of styles for different occasions and seasons. Japanese boys of age five and girls of age seven are often dressed in this traditional formal wear for a photograph to mark their passage into middle childhood; at coming-of-age ceremonies, women typically don bright youthful designs. Programme participants will learn about different kimono styles and the subtle nuances conveyed by the fabric patterns and colours as they experience the art of formal kimono dressing. The expert fitting, as well as the optional hairstyling and make-up, are done by Votre Histoire Shu Uemura Wedding, the specialists who oversee bridal styling for The Peninsula Tokyo. For a keepsake of the experience, a professional photographer may be hired for a portrait taken within the hotel or at nearby Hibiya Park.
