Peninsula Hotels are renowned worldwide for their iconic Afternoon Teas filled with exquisite pastries and chocolate desserts. In this exclusive cooking course for children (accompanied by an adult), budding little chefs will have the opportunity to learn the classic French techniques of l’art de la pâtisserie from our Michelin-starred pastry chef, Yannick Oppermann.
Chocolate will be the ingredient of the day, and young chocolatiers will create their own cupcakes, cookies, fondants and other chocolate deserts, experimenting in different shapes and sizes using over forty of the Peninsula’s custom-made chocolate molds. They will even get a science lesson in making the gooey substance itself.
Being a master chocolatier involves perfecting the art of working with the sweet ingredient to create not only delicious desserts, but also beautiful and skillfully crafted pieces of chocolate art.
Under the guidance of The Peninsula’s Chef Yannick - who worked as a pastry chef in the Michelin-starred restaurant Spoon founded by the legendary Alain Ducasse - youngsters will learn to tell their bain-maries from their ballotins, their bitter from their Belgian, and get an up-close insight into the intricacies of chocolate dessert-making, Peninsula-style.
Each child will takeaway their very own ‘cocoa kit’ filled with a personalised apron, chocolate buttons, custom-made whisk and special chocolate molds to continue the smooth and succulent art of chocolatier at home. And their very own handmade desserts of course.
